Stephanie Lee brought me some terrific news today. She's asked me to join her in her Plaster Class at Artfest on Friday the 30th. She has a huge plaster class (it's full, sorry) and needs back-up in case a dozen students have questions all at the same time. I'm thrilled. Mostly because I've been too lazy to submit classes myself or to make teaching plans - and still I get to be in the class room. Yes!
I'm so glad I get to return on the final year of Artfest to wrap up an era and meet again with the people who've meant so much to me. To say good-bye to a place that's changed my life.
I recently shared a conversation with a friend about what we look for in the people we choose to spend our time with. My easy answer was artists and visionaries. Which are often the same thing but not always. Writers, spiritual people, people who can see where things are headed and who try to make a difference. I think it was at Artfest that I first met people who were strikingly open, kind and good to each other. Where competition was absent. It felt different than what I experienced in other groups, even other art groups. It felt WONDERFUL and safe.
So thank you Stephanie and if you're going to Artfest too maybe we'll see each other there.

enjoy art fest... beautiful pages, Judy...
Always wanted to go to Artfest. Oh well, this year it's AU so maybe next year.
I agree about who to spend time with, but then there is some family...ugh! Patience and acceptance is probably not a bad idea here.
Enjoy!
Your pages are lovely Judy. Congratulations on getting to do some more teaching.
I have not heard of Art Fest...I am off to figure it out.
Wonderful post Judy, so appreciate your thoughts and insights. I'm with you give me visionaries and creative souls people who know how to be supportive of each other.
Yippee!! So happy you'll be at ArtFest Judy :)
can't wait to see you and Stephanie again :)
xxxooo
Love you,
Dawn
Sounds so heavenly! I don't have any artist friends in my offline life. It would be so fun to get to chat with people with like passions!
Judy such a wonderful post this.
Happy for you in so many ways.
Happy for those students who get to reap your knowledge and talent.
Happy for you to do what you love so much...sharing with others your wonderful talents.
A sweet goodbye to Artfest...but you take from it so much.
(PS I'm so excited to be in a book with you!!!) tee hee
Yay! I'm so happy you'll be there, Judy. I'll see you in Stephanie's first class!
tJudy, Judy...
I can't tell you how much gratitude I carry in my heart for you for so many reasons (just waiting for the day when you tell me to shut up already) and you helping me at Artfest is no small thing. A very big class deserves all the attention a very small class gets and so I'm so happy that you will be there to help me with that. I hope you won't mind sharing your wisdom freely even if it means pointing out somewhere where I've erred.
The last Artfest. Harder to swallow than the end of the best book. sigh.
by the time i got around to wanting to go or even knowing about artfest i was booked with travel and alas this is the last.... but we still have teesha's art annex in seattle so there will no doubt be variations on a smaller scale... and judy, i'm so looking forward to meeting you at encausticamp this summer!
You are so right about ArtFest,Judy. I met you there, and you were the EXACT description of the kind of people one meets at AF. You were open, and kind, and welcoming.
I am coming up for the last night at AF, so maybe I will see you there...
Yay! I'm in that class. So happy you'll be part of it, too.
that's wonderful news judy. remember not too long ago you felt some angst over whether you should or shouldn't teach anymore? the universe seems to have given you the perfect solution - no prep work with all the satisfaction. isn't the universe gracious and abundant?! i'm so happy for you.
I cant wait to spend time with you in July at EncaustiCamp my Judy Wise :-)
Judy!!
I KNOW that my begging and whining is why you are joining us in Port Townsend! You are just too subtle in letting me know!
I'm so excited I can't stand it.
Even though I'll be with Misty Mawn, I have already made arrangements with her to duck out and visit Stephanie's class. I'll be the one with the duck beak and feather headband, bringing my own newspaper.
DON'T TELL ANYONE!!!
p.s. I don't know about spiritual and visionary, but wacko and loose-cannon is making a comeback at dinner parties.
Ooooh! it would be so wonderful to have artfest here in France!... Have fun!
See you there! :) -Shelly
Ahhh, Judy Wise, you ALWAYS inspire me.
Wish I could enjoy Art Fest too.

i was very close to attending art fest this year - the last year . . . but life got in the way. anyway have a wonderful 'fest' . . . teach lots, laugh lots, and tell us all about it after.
found your blog via seth . . .congrats on being in the book. your work is beautiful. loved reading about your trip to mexico. san miguel is an amazing place, and one of my favorite places to be.
Hi Judy- I just came over from looking at your wonderful work on Seth's 31/31 post on you, and your work, on The Altered Page. Seeing that one little glimpse of your journal on his blog, was tantalizing, so I was delighted to find so many more, here. I find inspiration in your amazing journal pages, your plaster and encaustic work, and in your statement that you are ". . .looking for my stubborn idea of beauty. . .". I believe this is a quotation should be on every artist's studio wall! I'll be checking-in from time to time, to see what you are up to.
