Ah, a little break from the routine; it's the talk-like-a-pirate 5th annual end of summer beach reatreat for our family. Sun, water, a cozy rented beach house, 2 dogs, salt water taffy, lots of naps and beach walks.
The sea was calm and the sun was out. The mister and I took long, sweet walks together with our faces to the sand as we beachcombed for smooth glass, polished stones, agates and other earthly treasures. It was bliss.
Here I am with my angelitos and one sea dog. His name is Cooper but at the beach we call him C-Dawg.
Angels surrounded us and left their evidence.
Our rented house sat high on a cliff with windows out to the ocean.
There was a lot of napping.
Pirate sightings. Treasure collecting. Time spent staring at the rollers, listening to the sounds of mother soothing our spirits and reassuring us that life is sweet when we care for each other.
We found liquid gold in the sunsets.
We counted our blessings and then we slept soundly.

beach weekends! oh, there is nothing like them.
delicious. delicious. I think the beach holds a totally different vibration than the inland havens...indescribable.
Can't wait for January! :)
That sounds, and looks incredible spiritually soul satisfying!
Judy,
such perfection. i think this may be my first "comment" here? i love this post and the idea of an "annual end of summer beach retreat"!
i am also struck (perhaps thunder*struck is more accurate) by your image of the feather and your words beneath this image: "Angels surrounded us and left their evidence." i have been noticing, noticing, noticing, noticing...an abundance of feathers everywhere* in recent weeks. it's obscene really, the number of feathers. just this morning while walking the streets of my city i was wondering, "what is this about?"
organically, i had a sense that perhaps these feathers were treasures from my sweet bella (my beloved sister*child who died suddenly two years ago). i came here and it couldn't be more clear! the feathers i've found are from bella and other beloved angels. i love this! thank you, thank you, thank you...
warmly,
gem
Looks like heaven, Judy!
That looks so amazing! I feel more relaxed just looking at it. That is such a nice tradition! You deserve it.
Jess
such gorgeousness...it looks and sounds like a bliss-full weekend...
i think i need a trip to the ocean soon...
sending you peace and love dear girl.
There's nothing more energizing than the sea. I'm doing a week long workshop with Keith Lo Bue at present and it's down on the bay, so invigorating,
Ahoy, my little poppet -- just a note to say AAARGG, I'm jealous of your beach weekend, savvy?
This is exactly what I needed to see/read today, Judy. There is a balm in Gilead and it's this post! LOL.
I am landlocked but so love the beaches and lakes.
Nothing like them. Nothing like the angels, either.
Thanks for this.
Candace
You have captured the magic that I am trying to record about my beloved Nova Scotia shore in a project I am working on for school.
Thank you for the mini vacation your beautiful photos and words took me on!
beautiful photos.
*sigh*

Avast! Me thinks th' sight of th' ocean and waves has made me all misty-eyed! Argh!
Hi Judy!
What a wonderful getaway -- just as you described to me at SAW! Your pictures are breathtaking and very peaceful to look at. So happy you had such a wonderful time with your family.
Miss you!

Oh my....
How about if you are me for a week and I am you?
Cloning, yeah, that's it! How I wanted to be at Squam, even while I was in Italy.....yikes!
So many wonderful things to do....especially, being with your family at the beach.
xxoo
Oh, how I miss the Oregon coast!
Judy, the beach is one of my very favorite places and with my family it is heaven! We rented a house last September and our entire family gathered - reading your post and seeing your photos reminds me of what a great time we had last year, but sad we weren't able to do it again this year!
I hope I get to see you at Art and Soul!
