Stream of Consciousness Journaling

Doodled this page while listening to Obama's speech this morning on racism in the USA. Had watched a wonderful video the night before on Betty LaDuke's work with Heifer.org to help supply cattle to the impoverished people in Africa. Her work was so inspiring to me; how artists can use their influence to help others who profoundly need it. The beautiful healthy faces of the children who just want to eat. The mother's look of relief that her child has a meal. We're just people here. Some of us nice, some of us dreadful, independant of race or religion. It's simple, isn't it? Why are some of us so afraid?

That which we fear in ourselves we fear much more easily in others. Trust is the Divine Equalizer. It is a gift and a curse, but much greater a gift than could ever be a curse.

We trust and we are defrauded, we continue to trust and we are richer by what we may receive in return. We don't and all we receive is cynicism. Some of us fear the unknown while some of us see all the possibilities to learn from the yet to become known. I don't have an answer other than to trust in ourselves and others.

Only then we will be able to feed the hungry, shelter the poor and ask for nothing in return. That is the true blessing.

Wonderful post Judy, I love Betty's work and have a wonderful book of her paintings- I heard her speak many years again at an art educators conference. We must keep hope alive as we do what we can. Terry

Great questions, great post. A lot to think about, but yet it should be so simple.

Good insights! It is encouraging to see and artist be empowered to help others. Sometimes art seems so intropective.
