I'm Baaaaaack

Spent the afternoon shooting photos of trees changing colors. When I went to use my favorite tree in an encaustic I saw that I'd deleted it from my computer and soon the trees will be bare so off I went. Those will be coming. Then when I got home I made more of Jackie's patterned paper using the new blue stamp blocks and brayers.

I love to make a big mess in the studio. I'm finally getting over my anal retentive washing of rubber stamps and brayers. It gets in the way of the fun. I've made up my mind that nothing should get in the way of the fun.

I topped all the sheets with a layer of thin iridescent rolled over most areas. And some gold. And some iridescent gold. The paper is several kinds but my favorite is a type of white tracing paper that is slick on one side and absorbent on the other. The sparkly paper looks and feels like silk sari material. Whew. Very beautiful.

Another journal page.

The next 3 weeks are going to be balls to the wall. I have 2 sets of company coming and a class to teach and Thanksgiving and my last 3 encaustic classes and of course my own spacey self to herd around so it should be interesting. November is good.

I am whining this morning because I am almost as far from Oregon as you can get in the states ... stuck over here in South Carolina.
I haven't found wonderful creative shops like this one here.
::: sigh ::::

I wannna fly to Oregon and take a class!!!!

I love your art, your journals, thank you for sharing.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as Cynthia. I'm just a state below her in Georgia. I really love your blog. It's so inspirational. Keep up the great artistry.

So I hopped over here from visiting Ro's studio. Yours looks pretty darn snazzy as well....and well used, I might add. Have a great day creating.

Looks like your fans are coming in droves from the East Coast! I'm from NC and only starting to discover some neat shops and stores around here-but nothing compared to your neighborhood! I finally got a copy of CPS--and thoroughly enjoyed your feature article :)

It's balls to the wall for me, too--infact, what am I doing on the computer is beyond me with company coming soon and a studio (in shambles) that is smack dab in the dining room where everyone is supposed to eat turkey dinner--must do something about that today :)!

I found your blog in this month's Cloth Paper Scissors. It's my favorite work distraction!
I've just started one but have put up just a little. (sendingpagesouttodry.blogspot.com)
I'm in Georgia too but in Atlanta where we have lots of great shops and studios.
I'd like to link your blog to mine. Is that ok? (As I said, I'm new to this)
thanks, Judy.

Oooh!! That looks like FUN.

One thing you could do is to leave a bucket of water near your work area and toss the stamps and brayers into the water. If acrylics get stuck on the stamp, they are a mucho pain in the rear to clean...FYI! :) I HATE spending the time cleaning stamps...but I hate the fact that some of my stamps are ruined because of acrylics...

Hi Judy--You have been a veritable GEYSER of creative activity! Loved the picture of You & Hermie. Joey likes being held, too--unfortunately, he's too big to pick up--but cuddling on the floor is OK with him!
Will you explain those blue stamps? They are heated? And what kinds of things can you use to make a design (besides shoes) Thanks for any info.
XOXO Christine

Ahhh Judy my sweet, I'm back to the classroom tomorrow. Please continue making messes with everything and know I am there in spirit laying out the paper and stamping, swirling, painting, and dancing right beside you. Go on with your bad self!

I love your papers! I wish I could fly across the ocean to see how they're made. I've also had those blue foam things sat on my shelf for ages. Now I want to play!

Going back a few posts (you post faster than I can read!) I adore your wax through lace technique. Thanks for sharing. This encaustic course looks amazing and I love your passion.

I'm with Cynthia, I am always whining that I don't live in Oregon - even more so, because I am a whole ocean and a continent away. Luckily though we are going to visit Portland (too too briefly) as part of our Artfest trip. You've inspired me to get my stamps out again, and my single virgin block of blue magic stamping stuff.
