Slowly, November

It's been quiet in the studio since the online class ended. I sort of threw myself over the finish line and curled up in a ball. I had planned to do a journal class in January but that was before I knew how satiated I would feel. Now I just want to lie back and stare at the ceiling.

Four weeks of being consumed by the computer; tunnel visioned and in suspended animation. Is this how gamers feel?

Anyway, I'm starting to wiggle my toes again and wanted to make an announcement.

The Hot Wax eBook is available for pre-order and will be out to you in time for Christmas. Twenty days of encaustic lessons; you can read what a few of the students had to say at the link. I'm so proud of it. I can recommend it whole heartedly to anyone who wants to know everything I know about wax.

The persimmons are nearly ripe and most of the leaves have blown off the tree.

The studio waits patiently.

Pink lemons; a new fruit this winter in our stores. The outside is green and yellow stripes; really pretty. They taste like a cross between a lemon and a lime.

The tree by our driveway; another kind of lemon. That green rosebush under it was covered with lavender roses this spring; a completely different palette. Fall is so wistful.

I think I've spent only 2 days in here in the last month.

Still working on these guys. Slowly. Slowly I go. xo

I loved the class so much Judy! I'm slowly working through the videos still, it went by so quickly. I feel like I've learned so much. The class has re energized me with my non wax creations too. Reaching out to give you a virtual hug! Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!

oh you just lay down on that studio floor and stare and stare and stare and stare at that ceiling. then stare some more. rest. eat limey orange zebra lemons, drink margaritas, have some hot toddy's, find a cat to pet, smoke a joint, snuggle with your sweetheart, go on a couple of horseback rides with me, and you'll be back to your brand of normal in no time flat.

Just had to say I love the in process paintings, especially the one on the left... all the one on the right made me want to look closer at what may be lurking toward the bottom there.

I can understand wanting to lie on the floor now. I took a whole bunch of computer courses to update my knowledge and kickstart my brain two summers ago and collapsed in a heap at the end of the summer. The thing is, after two weeks of that, all those paintings/poems/snippets of stories... they start to yarp at a person and you just have to get going again, you know?

And your studio is full of potential yarpers, that... maybe you will be ready for that journaling class sooner than you think!

Autumn is the time of year when Mother Nature signals to us that it is time to let go of the old and prepare for the new. We rest more and sleep more and reflect more and prepare for the new year. She knows best.

I am so glad the class was want you wanted it to be and more. November seems like a good month to slow down again, just like nature does.
I hope you have a sweet and simple gathering of gratitude this week and then time in that space that is dear to your Soul.
Much Love !

Judy, your "just stare at the ceiling" comment sounded like after good sex! (sorry I couldn't help it!!! I'm surprised you didn't say I was smoking a cigarette too! LOL)

Sounds like that experience was everything wonderful and how great to be caught up so entirely in a wonderful thing!

Your studio is another very very very exciting looking place; and isn't it great that it is there just waiting for your return...after you smoke, I mean, stare at the ceiling a while!
;-))

Many many congrats on the publication of your new book! I am sure I will get a copy to learn what you know and maybe even add it to my art making repertoire along the way.

Your studio shots are always delightful.

I hear ya about the online thing. The zone it puts us in is just... well--WEIRD. It's a weirdass thing. In fact, I'm feeling weirder just writing about it. they're coming to get me.

lemons.
leemmmmonnnnnz.

I bet your class was awe-inspiring. So much time in a day, but man, to clone ones self...

that stenciling in your studio ( i believe of ms m, that b &w one) is so cool!! never seen that. i stenciled myself once and they made me leave work and go wash it off. they aren't even one bit artistic.

Hope you are fabulously recovered!

The workshop was great. Really great. I've got enough fodder to keep me going for a long long time.

Judy I just wanted to say that as much as I loved the entire workshop, what got me the most was your final post.......those words swirl around in my mind and my heart reminding me what this is really all about. Thanks

Oh yeah, and the journal thing.....I sure hope you get your butt in gear soon because I am so ready for the journal class.

Thanks for giving us your all, Judy! The Hot Wax class was wonderful - can't wait for the ebook, so I can have you in my studio whenever I need you! I may have to slow down on the encaustics through the winter, but will pick up your Plaster Studio Workshop ebook in January - I have it waiting patiently for me, since I have had it for awhile now, but wanted to focus on the wax while the class was "live". I am so glad you are starting to feel your toes again! xo

Greetings Judy,

I cannot believe the wonderful studio you have. I love the way the light enters in to the room, allowing one to see everything.

Seeing your work area has given me the incentive to finish the garage. where now i store way too much.

I would like to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and the very best for 2012.

Warmest regards,
Egmont
