Following My Bliss

Have had several play dates with friends since my last post. These keep me going. The irreverent laughter. I am a person who needs to spend time with good people who love to create.

It's my religion.

I like play dates with little kids too. They are fearless and I learn from them not to be so uptight.

They know all about pop-ups. I was impressed.

They knew what to do with my collage stash.

With the paints.

And all about houses.

I'm painting faces again.

That's what's growing in my garden.

Holding on. Squeezing every bit of joy out of summer.

This shot is for the reader who asked if we grew squash. Yeah, baby. Buttercup. Fall delight.

John is holding up the guias de chayote. Little tendrils that are good to eat.

Their world is secretive and grasping.

They like to climb the trellis and run amok.

Touch of Class rose. She had a sweet fragrance this morning.

Always the journal. Especially during the hard times. Keeps my secrets, my sorrows, my happiness.

My search.

All the parts of me.

Telling the same stories I invented as a child. Drawing the pictures and telling the stories.

Making sense of the bewildering vast universe.

Putting my angst and experience on the page.

Sharing it here.

Naked Lady. Somehow that sums it up. xo

Our Naked Ladies haven't bloomed in two years now. I'm hoping to see them pop up soon or it's another sad fall. Thank you for sharing your journals and the garden pictures. What wonderful itchings to feed mankind! I wish I could do more of that.

Naked Lady!!! You are the first person besides my MIL that I have ever heard call them that. How oh HOW do you get them to bloom here? I had come to the conclusion that it just isn't warm enough in Portland and thought I had dug them all and tossed them. Always foliage, never blooms. This last week I discovered one in a back corner that is about to bloom. Is there a certain depth or something?

these bulbs have been in the ground for two years without blooming. i have no idea why they suddenly came to life. but i do love them.

Hello Judy, nice post! We're in Depoe Bay at our condo this week. Enjoying spectacular weather to view our whales. We will get you over here. We'll be back week of Thanksgiving. So glad you posted that you made a delivery to Earthworks a few weeks ago. We went and purchased the mixed media four houses piece by you. It's being shipped to Gilbert AZ can't wait to see it in my studio! See you at Journalfest!

YES! Secrets! I think a secret journal is the BEST. Somehow, I secretly want the secrets to come out, but don't tell anyone.

I thought a play date might be good for this weekend, but haven't worked it out yet. I'm glad you have luscious creative minds around you.

The way you paint these ladies' faces just does something to me. I seem to get lost in them. I love when you post the close ups of the face...the colors of the skin and cheeks...their eyes....Peace to you. ~Kathy

There is so much to say about this marvellous post but I can't seem to put it into words. Perhaps that's best. I love the way your squash over the trellis looks like someone's very long hair!

Love your faces! And loving all the luscious garden photos. Did you ever say what becomes of all this bounty? Mega preserving? Farmstand?

Judy Wise said...

Gigi, John loves to share the bounty with our friends. Have never sold it. (too busy taking care of it!)

I love your journal pages, I too have journals coming out my ears. I'm addicted to all blank, empty books I can't stop myself!

PURE BLISS.

Thomas Carlyle once wrote, "our books are friends who never fail us." The same could be said of our journals.

Hi dear-QUICK ?

On your web-site you show your original acrylics, then you have SOLD, then something about prints for 28.00. Can I buy a copy of READER??? or since it says "sold" does that mean everything is sold out.

I thought READER would be so great in our new Literary Lodging in Maine. NO tv, but lots of books.

Please reply to

and thanks!

I love your faces - you make it look spontaneous and so easy to catch that illusive expression. And your garden is incredible. I gave up and relied on the farmer's market this year... did not want to fight the deer and not really enough sun on this property as the neighboring trees have taken over. I start teaching the little ones Monday - can't wait for kiddo quotes.
