January Gratitude

It's been a quiet week; time for introspection and contemplation. John is fully engaged in putting up the fence around his garden that he has been dreaming of for years. I feel a little sad for the families of deer who depended on us for a nice salad now and then. How do the wild creatures live with so many of us on their grazing trails down to the Willamette River? But I understand; after putting so much work into the garden it is sad to see things crushed by hungry deer.

This DVD arrived in the mail yesterday and I haven't had time to watch it yet but I know it is going to be delicious. Daniella is a friendly and inspiring woman who I first met at a conference in Boston. (come to think of it I met her before that when we were both exhibitors in the Bellevue Art Fair). She had been a textile artist for years and combines that now with encaustic. For anyone with a love of wax and textile this is a must see. Oh yeah, the heart is made of Sculpey. Thinking valentines already.

Journal page. Working on many things at once; not writing as much each day but lots of painting.

This reminds me of the juice cans we used to wear in our hair at night. She looks like she needs a few more hours of sleep. he he

Keep on keeping on. xo

    Hello Judy

Love the journal page you've just posted, actually I love all your journal pages.
It's funny because you are doing more painting than writing, I'm doing the opposite! Either way, it's creative expression!

  3. I never did the juice cans, but the rollers with bristles aerated my noggin for many years. You are such a good one with faces and shading. I know if I practiced more I could do better but I've been in such a goofy funk for much too long now. Knitting seems to sooth me right now. That and holding grandbabies. I'll keep going on, though. Good for John to get a fence. He works so hard for his veggies!

Faces are soft and luscious. They remind me of 40's movie star faces with all that powder...

I would love to see a slideshow of your faces book when it is done.

Ginormous oj cans all my floormates in college wore to straighten their curly hair..thankful for shorter hair.

Thankful for new ideas, treats, dvd/book suggestions...
Am sure the deer will manage...glad John has his fence!
I think juice cans didn't make it to Vallejo. LOL We did big rollers though and I can still feel how awful it was to try and sleep on them digging into my head. Life was one big awful hair day then. OY.

  9. -I love your work in your face book. Your Jan 23 face reminds me a lot of Katie K.-especially her chin and piercing eyes-although usually I see Katie smiling in my mind.
Love & hugs to you Judy,

  12. Maybe plant a bit of lettuce on the other side of the fence for the deer and bunnies to enjoy, that way all benefit.

  15. Oh boy, I feel like I struck gold when I connected the art work I LOVE with the name Judy Wise. Hurrah, I found you and you weren't even lost.

I live in Maine during the summer and fall and saw that you are teaching in New Hampshire. Where can I find out about the class?? Any help is appreciated.

  19. Have been admiring your journal pages. Glad John has his garden - and his fence. Did you know that, acc to a USA Today blurb a year or so ago, there are far more deer in the US now than when the Pilgrims landed? We've not made a dent in their population, and the killing off of all the larger cats, etc, has allowed the deer to flourish.

i've enjoyed viewing the birth and growth of this sweet "little" facebook. 4" square.

rather than intregrating with new artwork, how 'bout a haiti auction? the whole book, or pages? i don't have the cash for the value of the 'whole book' nor the contribution it would bring for haiti, but i think i could bit for a two page display....
