Just when I think I'm never going to get back into the studio again the angels come and gently lift my mood and mysteriously I think I just maybe can do it again and then I find out I can. The two panels above are only underpaintings; I'll serve up additional versions in the coming days but I'm so grateful to feel open again. It is such misery when I am not painting.
Once again my so called students are inspiring me. First the plaster players and now the waxing busybees have me jonesing to get back in the wax and plaster. It's either a drought or a flood; funny how that works.
The journal of course helps me keep my momentum even in the dry periods.
And woo hoo for me. I ventured out with John on a "date" to Guardino Gallery for an opening where I had a painting on display. It was a wonderful, spooky occasion and a beautiful show. The "ghouls" are Stephanie Brockway and Tori Brokenshire; it was fun.
We've been eating lots of salsa from the tomato and pepper crop.
I never get tired of pictures of produce.
or food!!
That's all I got for you today, friends. I'm planning Thanksgiving and practicing gratitude every day. Thanks for stopping by. xo
Your paintings are coming along so nicely Judy! Lovely color. Funny story...when I first looked at them I could tell it was in your kitchen and I was thinking somehow you made fancy dishwasher covers or something because of where they are placed in the photo. Silly me.
ReplyDeleteLove your all the inspiration you give, your lovely photos AND your pretty braid.
♥
Glad to hear you are lifted up and feeling good. The changing seasons always seem to come before we are done with the last one and it takes a bit to shift the gears.
ReplyDeleteI loved every single photo in this post and oh.my.gosh. that hair. You are rockin' it, girl!!
YOu always inspire so...
ReplyDeleteGlad you are "back in the saddle again." I've been inspired by many of your ideas shown in your new plaster book. I am going to attempt a Santos doll-my own version-which will be different from yours. I will probably use clay and hand sculpt the top but love your idea of the thrift store doll. I also love the way yours turned out.
ReplyDeleteThanks again so much and by the way, your hair is fabulous!
I know what you mean. When I create or write something, I have a spell of not being able to do anything new. It feels like that's it, I've got no more to give .. but somehow, the muse comes along again ..
ReplyDeleteI like the underpaintings very much
love those under paintings, wonderful swirling motion to them, glad you feel inspired once again. I love your produce/food photos too, they leave me drooling :-)
ReplyDeleteGoodmorning Judy, Are the paintings wax? They are beautiful , can't wait to see them finished. I am enjoying your class so much! Thank-you for your wonderful lessons, life & art. Hugs, Stephani
ReplyDeleteThose underpaintings are quite nice!
ReplyDeleteUnder paintings/under pants !!!! Everything is better when they are so nice!! HA!
Just look at you in 1962, looking beautiful and sassy.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous post Judy, so much colour, energy and inspiration. Love it all and I'm glad to see you're feeling creative again.
ReplyDeleteMmmmh, the vegetables look so yummy! And your 2 paintings don't seem to need much more work - they look so meditative.
ReplyDeleteI very much enjoy working along the plastersudio ebook. Can't wait for the encaustic ebook, as I missed the course because of my holidays.
I'm glad to hear that you feel better. To be an artist is not always easy, as we are often tormented by self-doubts and seeing no progress or sense in creating...
But that's part of the game - so that we can then submerge with new strength & idea. And your work is so inspiring and inventive!
I had to journal about gratitude this week, too! I never tire of your produce photos, either, Judy!! Have a happy weekend, kath
ReplyDeletePV loves judy's braid.

ReplyDeleteGlad to see you having so much fun, and I love that young young photo of you with baby in arms. Yes, lots to be grateful for.
Hi Judy,
ReplyDeleteOh I wish I'd known you were going to that opening! It looks like it was so much fun :) I'll have to stop by during the month to see the show... Tory is my partner for the 100 artists show at Mary Lou Zeek's this year and I got the most inspiring letter from her. Looking forward to seeing your piece. Also, if you haven't read The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver, I think you'd love it....

As soon as the rain came and the leaves began to make their way to the earth... I just turned into myself and became as compressed and wet as their piles outside my door... seeing your new work has helped be poke my way through the pile. Welcome back to the world I am right behind you.
ReplyDeleteI love you Judy and am inspired by your sharing always.
I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one that works in cycles. Sometimes I think the door has been forever closed. Then I'm caught in the flood waters and loving it. Your hair is stunning. And please keep posting your paintings and produce. They are so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteSuch a feel good post xxx
ReplyDeleteI'll bring over the chips, Judy...you have plenty of salsa... love the two paintings you started, they're haunting and fantastic all at the same time... xo
ReplyDeleteI have been so busy with your Hot Wax class I have neglected visiting your blog. So fun catching up on all of your latest posts. I love your new painting - something about your art really speaks to me. I am grateful to have the opportunity to spend time with you, even if has to be via the internet!
ReplyDeletetrès beau livre..une belle création!
ReplyDeleteWow. That hair is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSalsa Salsa!! When you went on your 'date' did you do the salsa? I tried that once and listed to the right for the better part of a month.
I love those panels. The word love is bandied about, but I don't bandy.

Boy can I relate Judy!! (hmmm, side note - I just noticed that my word verification is 'reating". A combo of relating and creating?!?) Anyway, I love your back grounds, the journal pages, your amazingly fun outing photos, and your beautiful braid :) I got your book a little while back, and find it's rich with inspiration. Hopefully I'll get my studio on track and filled for use one of these days soon, and I too will be back to work! thank you for your motivating influence! xox K
ReplyDeleteJudy, love the beginning of your paintings. The colors are very inspiring, along with the produce! I am just starting to learn how to use more veggies in my cooking. I am hoping for new recipes as we pull into New Mexico!
ReplyDeleteOh Judy, I love the undercoatings of these paintings and to see all the fun you are having!
