Waxology
I am mesmerized by the wax - like a drunken sailor, helpless before the call of the sirens. The melty, fragrant, challenging medium has me for sure. Right before Christmas. This is why you won't be getting a card from me. I'm off waxing.
She kind of looks the way I feel. Aye, aye, aye, Christmas again and me with my head in the wrong place, off chasing fireflies and phosphorescent waves. No plum pudding for this family.
This painting is on a deep stretcher with wood panel on top and it is 12" square. I glued Italian writing around the edges; walnut stained.
What a fun day it was. It's sure a good thing there are no holidays coming or I would be feeling guilty about spending so much time in the studio. (ha ha - NOT). xo
Beautiful. I think your blog posts of art are much better than a Christmas card anyway, Judy!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I love the feeling of melancholy she projects.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Depth! i feel the same way...i find my creative juices just overflowing and then think...oh, i better get goin' on those gifts...oh! but here's another idea to paint or something new to make...ah 'vell, we are human afterall...let the creative juices FLOW! MERRRY CHRISTMAS!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! Life is far to short!
ReplyDeletei like this better than a xmas card!!!!
ReplyDeleteisn't it the way it goes, though? the minute one doesn't have time to get to the studio and work, the ideas just flow and the desire to get to it is overwhelming. it balances those times (for me anyway) when i sit in my studio staring at a blank design wall. this usually happens when all the projects are finished and i haven't started another. all the juggling balls have fallen to the floor.
ReplyDeletetruly gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteReally a marvelous piece Judy. I just love your faces, always they speak volumes. Holiday wishes to more time in the studio!!! xox Corrine

Really, Judy. This is so pretty and lovely and rich and gooey. I want to wear it, that's how much I love it. (But when I do, I keep falling forward.)
It's odd that you say you haven't sent a card. I got one the other day from you. Oh, sure. I made it and sent it to myself, forging your signature. But I had to do something. With that restraining order you have on me, and all.
HAPPY HAPPY HOLIDAY FUN TO YOU!
