Waxology

I am mesmerized by the wax - like a drunken sailor, helpless before the call of the sirens. The melty, fragrant, challenging medium has me for sure. Right before Christmas. This is why you won't be getting a card from me. I'm off waxing.

She kind of looks the way I feel. Aye, aye, aye, Christmas again and me with my head in the wrong place, off chasing fireflies and phosphorescent waves. No plum pudding for this family.

This painting is on a deep stretcher with wood panel on top and it is 12" square. I glued Italian writing around the edges; walnut stained.

What a fun day it was. It's sure a good thing there are no holidays coming or I would be feeling guilty about spending so much time in the studio. (ha ha - NOT). xo

Beautiful. I think your blog posts of art are much better than a Christmas card anyway, Judy!

isn't it the way it goes, though? the minute one doesn't have time to get to the studio and work, the ideas just flow and the desire to get to it is overwhelming. it balances those times (for me anyway) when i sit in my studio staring at a blank design wall. this usually happens when all the projects are finished and i haven't started another. all the juggling balls have fallen to the floor.

So beautiful. She looks like an ancient Roman. They stare out of their pictures like that, as if they need to talk to you about meaningful soulful things. Love the wax!

Okay, can I talk to you for a minute? This thing that you're doing...the wax thing?

INCREDIBLE!!

STUPENDOUS!

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

(no spell check)

Really, Judy. This is so pretty and lovely and rich and gooey. I want to wear it, that's how much I love it. (But when I do, I keep falling forward.)

It's odd that you say you haven't sent a card. I got one the other day from you. Oh, sure. I made it and sent it to myself, forging your signature. But I had to do something. With that restraining order you have on me, and all.

HAPPY HAPPY HOLIDAY FUN TO YOU!

The way you posed this picture in different directions had me thinking they were all different paintings at first. Such mood she portrays in her eyes! Amazing!
I feel very gifted to see your art so thanks for posting. And enjoy your creation times.

Wow this looks amazing - and I always thought waxing was the painful way of getting annoying hair off your legs ..lol. The work is full of emotion and feeling. Love it.

Judy, I am in love with your encaustic paintings. The expression on your first post takes my breath away. Beautiful. When I came upon your blog and saw them I was inspired to dig mine out and work on it while I'm on vacation. I referenced your blog site with a link to it so others can see your beautiful work. Thanks for sharing.
