It's been 9 years since I last did an art fair. For those who may not know, that's how I made my living for 3 decades; Portland Saturday Market and art fairs from Oklahoma City to Scottsdale Arizona, LA to Seattle and Park City, Utah to name only a few places.
John and I drove rickety vans that broke down as often as not until finally, 3 vans later we could afford a new one with AIR CONDITIONING, omg, unheard of luxury. It was a brutal and beautiful journey and to tell the truth I have missed it so much.
In January I had a wild hair and juried for 2 local art fairs. This is the one I got into; the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts. I first did this fair in 1973 or '74 ... always on a hot or thunderstormy weekend it seems. It is a community that loves the artists and we love them in return.
This weekend it was hot. 90 degrees on Friday, 100 degrees on Saturday and 102 degrees yesterday, on Sunday. As I said, the weather is usually a factor at this fair.
But this is how much I cared.
There was wonderful music including Three Legged Stool, one of my favorite groups.
Despite the weather, people came out and supported us. Thank you, wonderful people.
I sent a few paintings to new homes.
My heart is full.
I am going to do this show as long as they'll have me or until I keel over.
The end. xo
I have not done an art show since I was a teenager! You are so very brave! 😘
