Encaustic Love

Wax, tissue collage, pigment, henna stencil (from Mary Ann), shellac, gold leaf on a 6 x 6 x 1" block of wood.

Wax, Mary Ann's wallpaper (collage), pigment, oil paint and transfers on a 6 x 6 x 1" block of wood.

This is the window insert that I made out of foam core to keep the cold wind from blowing in what the fan is trying to blow out. I'm still trying to decide if a hood is needed. The fan is an antique (one speed only) but does a great job of keeping the air replenished and healthy.

  6. judy, do you realize how much inspiration you've provided of late?! from homemade stamps to paper bag journals to encaustic joy. and that's not to mention your usual wondrous journal art inspiration!!

  7. I love what you're doing with the encaustic, I wish I was doing that course too, it looks like a lot of fun. I also like the idea of a sloppy journal. I love making books but they always seem to hold some specific purpose. Now I want a journal for messing about in :)

  10. Judy,

I'm really liking the evolution of your encautic work. .....plus, I can't keep up with your blog entries!! :-) I particularly like the imagery that looks like caliigraphy of some sort.

Please get a hood or a more powerful exaust fan.
My instructors couldn't stress the important of this enough.

  11. Love your new work. I had very good intentions to do some new work myself this weekend and life just got in the way...again. Can you imagine it would take 4 coats of paint to cover a room? Never again will I use this beautiful (but too transparent!) orange paint in a room! I like painting...but not that kind!

Keep sharing your work - I love it!
